Part of me feels like I've had a "bad hair day" all week, but it hasn't been because my hair looks bad. Instead, I'm just extremely frustrated because my hair will not behave like I want it too. Since it's the middle of winter, I've wanted to put my hair up into a stylish updo as a protective style, but my lovely locs just won't cooperate! Every bobby pin or hair pin I use seems to hurt or put too much tension on my hair. Then, other locs refuse to stay in place and pop out of the style on their own. It's just been a mess this week!
I attempted to recreate a look I did on my loose natural hair and my relaxed hair years ago, but my locs really were not having it. Instead, I ended up with about an hour-worth of footage showing me struggling to get my hair in place to complete the style. So instead of a tutorial, I ended up sitting down in front of the camera to share my thoughts on the situation. Funny thing is, I was so annoyed until I didn't fully focus the camera before hand, hence the slight blur effect. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Now I know to put my camera on auto focus when I'm upset. =)
On a happier note, this video also shares some of the things that I'm enjoying about my hair these days: I'm excited about the growth being visible and I'm delighted that I've been able to maintain the tone and color of my locs (which I colored at home myself, might I add). So no pity party here; only a girl who loves her locs sharing her thoughts.
If any of you are going through a phase where your hair is not behaving the way you want, what are you doing to get back on track? How are you staying positive and how are you styling your hair. No journey will be perfect, but I know I don't want to dwell on what my hair won't do. I'd much rather focus on what it will do.
Peace out guys!
