Nine months into my loc journey, I finally feel at peace with my hair. It doesn't unravel as much when I wash it and I can see that it's been growing over the months! I spent the month wearing head wraps shaped into buns and curls made with Flexi Rods. My main goal was to create easy to manage styles that required very little daily maintenance; I was totally focused on school and my internship so I didn't want to have to fuss with styling my hair every day.
I'm also super excited that my locs have started to look...like...LOCS! My hair texture is very fine and has a very soft kink pattern so it took a while for the two-strand twist pattern to become virtually invisible. And in hindsight, I'm proud of myself for sticking the rougher months out. I reviewed my previous videos and scrolled through the hundreds of pictures I've taken to motivate me on my loc journey.
As always, stay motivated by charting your progress from the day you start your locs. Whether you freeform, semi-freeform, palm roll, interlock, or use any other technique to maintain your locs, make sure that you are doing the best thing for YOUR hair to achieve YOUR hair goals.
Remember: this journey is yours and your experience is unique. Just do you!
