Outfit of the Day / OOTD: Patterned Dress for Fall / Autumn

I really enjoyed wearing this outfit and the fluffy scarf kept my neck and chest warm in the cool crisp air on Monday.  My Nana (grandmother) bought this dress for me a few years ago at J.C. Penney.  She always picks out stylish and artsy clothes for me; she told me the pattern on this dress reminded her of things she wore when she was young.  I definitely picked up a lot of things style wise from my Nana and my aunt.

This outfit was comfy yet cute and fit well with running around to different appointments.  The cream/ivory white sweater was a gift as well that I've had for a few years.  The scarf is a few years old too.  The lace up combat boots are only a little over a year old and I believe I bought them at DSW (my favorite shoe store for sure, right behind Shoe Carnival).  On the East Coast in the States, Fall is in full swing now so items similar to these are readily available.  Hope you all enjoy this look.  Thanks for reading! ♥

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash: First Impression

This is not a sponsored post.

I really wanted to record a video about this but since I'm beyond tired right now and fighting my allergies, I figured I'd write this post instead.

Tonight is the first night I used Shea Moisture's African Black Body Wash on my hair/scalp -- well mostly my scalp.  For the past two weeks, I've been having a really bad eczema flare up on my scalp.  Spring and Fall are usually when my flare ups are the worst.  Instead of reaching for my Selsun Blue shampoo, I decided to give black soap a try.

For almost a month, I've been using the African Black Soap Face and Body Bar from Shea Moisture on my face and I'm quite pleased with the results.  My skin is super sensitive and oily, making it acne prone.  Since SheaMoisture's blend has been working well for my face, I felt the time was right to give it a try on my scalp.

I literally just washed my hair so my first impression is fresh. :)  I love how clean my scalp feels, without my scalp feeling dry.  Another thing I noticed is that my hair doesn't feel stripped.  My scalp doesn't feel tight after using the liquid black soap, which is how it feels sometimes after using my Selsun Blue shampoo.  Since my skin all over has been extra oily this month, I'm hoping that the oats included the black soap will help absorb some of the excess oil on my scalp.  Yes, an oily scalp and eczema do not mix!

My plan is to wash my hair every-other day this week.  Today is Monday (at least while I'm writing this post) and that means I'll wash my hair, specifically my scalp, again on Wednesday and Friday.

***FYI:  I rarely shampoo my hair shaft/actual locs every single time I wash my hair.  Instead, I let water run through my locs for about two minutes, shampoo my scalp, and then follow up with my {{favorite mix of conditioners}}.  I typically dilute all my products, including shampoos and conditioners.  Right now, I'm using the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Body Wash straight from the bottle.

I only plan to keep this schedule up until my eczema calms down.  I also plan to update you guys each day on how my scalp is doing and how it is reacting to this new product.  In case you're interested, I've listed below more info about the product and the ingredients. See you in my next post!
