Using Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash on Scalp: Day 4 Update

Today is day four of my "shampoo my scalp three times a week" routine and Friday is wash day again.

So far so good with this routine.  I'm still in the middle of an eczema flare up on my scalp but using the Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash on my scalp twice this week has definitely alleviated a few symptoms.  My scalp is not as oily as it was before starting this process and my scalp itches a lot less than last week.  All of these things are positives.
The only negative is having my hair wet three days out of the week.  To combat that, I've chosen to wash my hair at night and then I blow dry my roots with a handheld dryer.  If you're interested in how I blow dry my hair to speed up the air drying process, check out {{my tutorial on blow drying locs}}

Right now I'm planning to repeat this routine of shampooing my scalp every other day next week as well.  Instead of Monday/Wednesday/Friday, next week will be Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday.  Shampooing my scalp on that following Saturday will put me back on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule.

I don't plan on shampooing my locs/actual hair shaft until maybe next Wednesday.  For now, I allow the water to run through my locs/hair shaft for about two minutes, shampoo my scalp, and then condition my locs with my diluted mix of conditioners.  I followed a similar routine last winter, except I only needed to shampoo my scalp every four or five days (that lets you know the level of my flare up).  Right now, on a scale of one to ten, this flare up is about a seven.  Last year was roughly a six.  I'm not sure what made the difference but I'm thinking it's the sharp fluctuation of the temperatures from day to night throughout the week.

I will continue to keep you all updated on my progress and will share any changes in my current routine.  Thanks so much for reading and see you in my next post. ♥️
